Althoff wins Championship

The Althoff Crusaders knocked off Lincoln in the championship game. Carson Sonnenberg poured on 24 points as the Crusaders inside game took down the Railers. Lincoln struggled from the field going 18 for 48 from the field. Jordan Nelson scored 18 points and Ben Brackey 13 for Lincoln. All Tournament was Ben Brackney - Lincoln, Kyle Young - Lincoln, Glen Rice - Walton, Lawrence Thomas - Springfield Southeast, Kendall Kinnison - MacArthur, Keith Pickens - Oakville, Monte Wilson - MacArthur, Colby Long - Mount Zion, Carson Sonnenberg -Lincoln and Ryan Harrow of Walton was named tournament MVP.


 

Walton takes third place, Belleville East consolation.


 

MacArthur tops Eisenhower in battle of crosstown rivals

MacArthur defeated Eisenhower in the fifth place game of the Collinsville Holiday Classic 69-50.  MacArthur never surrendered the lead the entire game and in some parts managed double digit leads.  MacArthur hit most of their free throws in the fourth quarter to keep Eisenhower from sneaking back into the game.  Monte Wilson led the Generals in scoring with 25 points.  Eisenhower was led by Drew Washington with 21 points. 


 

Althoff knocks off top seed Walton to advance to finals 75-72, Collinsville in the consolation champioship

Althoff came out swinging early and manage to take a 21-17 lead after one quarter.  The lead exchanged hands several times in the second quarter with Walton pulling ahead 33-28 at the half.  Walton managed to build a nine point lead in the third quarter but Althoff rallied to tie the game at 52-52 after three quarters.  Althoff would take the lead for good at 64-63 on a lay-up by Will Lawson.  The Crusaders were led in scoring by Carson Sonnenberg with 25 points.  Ryan Harrow of Walton had a game high 35 points. Collinsville kicked up another win in a come back win over Glenwood. Collinsville was led by Robbie Fernandez with 17 points and Austin put in 16 points in the Kahoks' victory.


Lincoln needs OT but beats Oakville 56-50, advances to finals

Lincoln held most of the fourth quarter against a fiesty Oakville team.  They thought they had the game won but a 21-foot three pointer by Javier Duren at the buzzer tied the game at 47-47 and sent the game to overtime.  Lincoln was able to get a lead and hit their free throws after Oakville begin intentionally fouling.  Lincoln was led in scoring by Kyle Young with 13 points.  Oakville got 16 points from Keith Pickens. 


Belleville East pounds Madison 75-52

Belleville East put the running clock on Madison in the fourth quarter by taking a 30-point lead.  Belleville East advances to the Consolation Championship game this afternoon at 4 p.m. 


 

MacArthur downs Highland 61-42; Urbana knocks off Granite City in 2 OT

MacArthur got 19 points from Monte Wilson as MacArthur advances to play Eisenhower in the Fifth Place Championship game this afternoon.  The game remained close until MacArthur started widening their lead.  Highland got 11 points from Brent Kuper. 


 

Eisenhower, Riverview pick up wins

Eisenhower moved into the fifth place game with 66-64 over Springfield Southeast. Drew Washington hit two free throws 23 seconds left for the final points of the game and the Spartans were not able to get a shot off before the buzzzer. Caleb Davis scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds for the Panthers. In the auxiliary gym the Riverview Rams knocked off Mount Zion 78-66.


Kahoks cruise to victory

Collinsville picked up their second win of the season over Urbana. The Kahoks cruised to 26-9 halftime lead. Austin nailed five three pointers and had a total of 17 points. Robbie Fernandez scored 9 points all in the second half. Jamal Watson-Daniels was a spark off the bench with 6 points and 3 assists. Erik Shannahan had 6 steals for the Kahoks The Tigers leading scorer was Charles Glass with 13 points.


Althoff holds on against Highland

Althoff got balanced scoring by Alex Mumphard with 13 points, Devin Griffin 12 points, Carson Sonnenberg 11 points as the Crusaders knocked of the Bulldogs. Highland was led by Michael Buehne and Brent Kuper with 17 points each


Walton survives upset bid by MacArthur

Number 1 seed Walton Raiders got all the could handle from the Generals. Both teams traded baskets all night matching score for score. The game started dicey as two MacArthur players were ejected for leaving the bench during an incident on the court. MacArthur led 76-71 in the closing before Walton came. The Generals missed a three pointer at the buzzer that would have won the game. Walton was led in scoring Glen Rice with 23 points and Ryan Harrow with 27 points. MacArthur's Kendall Kinnison had 30 points and Monte Wilson had 23 points.


Glenwood set shooting record against Granite City

Glenwood hit 80 percent of its shot (8 for 10) and set a new tournament record in 60-36 win over Granite City. Glenwood set in the 30 point mercy rule late in the fourth quarter to beat the young Warriors squad. Zack Zimmerman scored 23 points and Cody Traina put 15 for the Titans. Granite City was led in scoring Justin Ike with 9 points.


Lincoln cruises past Eisenhower

The Lincoln Railers come out shooting knocking down 10 of 15 three pointers. Ben Brackney put in 6 three pointers and 20 first half points for the Railers, who lead 42-18 and never looked back. Brackney was top point man for Lincoln follwed by Nathaniel Smith with 13 points and Kyle Young with 12 points. Eisenhower leading scorer was Caleb Davis with 16 points of the bench.


Holiday Classic Preview

Walton High School of Marietta, GA is top seed for the 25th Annual Schnucks Holiday Classic. The Raiders feature two Atlantic Coast Conference signees. They are Glen Rice, Jr., son former NBA play Glen Rice, and Ryan Harrow. Rice a 6'5 senior has signed with Georgia Tech and Harrow a 6'0 junior has signed with North Carolina State.  More>>>
